Sun Nov 4, 2007 Program Council Chambers Wayne Cole, the author of Ghost Rails II, dropped in at 2:00 pm and spoke at great length on the subject of his book, the Western Allegheny Railroad (WARR) railroad and coal towns that were located under what is now Lake Arthur. This was a very interesting program and in addition to our own members, attracted visitors from several neighboring historical groups, as well as the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. If you would like to have a look at an old USGS topographic map of the area showing remnants of the railroad grade or the 1874 maps of the involved townships, follow these links to the USGS map showing the abandoned railroad grade along Muddy Creek west of Queen Junction and heading towards Coopers Lake, and also the 1874 maps of Worth, Brady, Muddy Creek, and Franklin ; the four townships that are spanned by the lake.
Tue Dec 11, 2007 Board Activity Room 4 Note that at this meeting it was decided to change the meeting date from the 2nd Tuesday of the month to the 4th Tuesday of the month effective beginning with the March 2008 meeting.
