The Cranberry Township Historical Society will complete the 2008 program series with a special presentation on Sunday November 2, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the Council Chambers of the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. Local author Luanne Eisler, a genealogist at the Butler County Library and author of "An Historical Gazetteer of Butler County, Pennsylvania", will join us to discuss her informative book co-authored by Glee McKnight and Janet Smith, cartographer. Luanne has done extensive research into the origin of place names and "things that aren't here anymore" and the book is a virtual "geographic dictionary with an historical perspective". Luanne also provides insight into the creation of her book from a concept to a completed hard back book. Local history buffs and aspiring authors alike will find this a very interesting program. The program is free to the general public and books will be available for sale afterwards, with proceeds benefiting the library. Mark your calendars and be sure to join us. If you don't know how the Garvin Tavern could have been built in Connoquenessing Township and wound up in Cranberry Township, this is the place to be.
