Comment Process Change

on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 10:27pm

Up until now, anyone could leave a comment on the website, even without having an account, however that comment would not be published until it could be reviewed and approved. The end result is that we were collecting a significant amount of useless comments entered by spambots laced with potentially dangerous links to places you can't imagine.

That is all changed now effective immediately. You now must be logged in to leave a comment. Logged in users will get to skip the comment approval process. Since users have an account, which required a valid email address, there is a higher degree of accountability, which should keep comments reasonable and unoffensive. (If this does not work as expected, we can re-enable comment approval, however users will still need to log in, thus eliminating the need for me to clean out the spam.)
