About Books

I know when some of you see a link called books, you are expecting to see some books you can buy or possibly check out at the library. Well, that's not exactly what this is here. So, lets take a minute to explain what a book is in the context of this website. A book essentially allows you to create an online book, as simple as that. You can have multiple books. Each book can have a title, table of contents, chapters and pages, just like a real book. Once the pages are created, they can be rearranged (if needed) into any order and modified at any time. Items from other areas of the website can be moved into books. This will be a good place to archive news items for example, or programs.

Something different here, is that people may leave comments on your book pages, if the author enables this feature. An online book lends itself to organizing longer style documents, particularly if they are broken down into many sections. For example, our board member archives fit into this description. The board for each year has its own page and there is a new board listing for every year since 1988, with every ten years fitting into a chapter. Using the chapter feature makes navigation a little easier. In a short book with a few pages, you may not want chapters. Take a look at our online books and you will get the hang of it.

Once you learn how to read an online book, some of you may want to create your own. As long as you are a registered user on our site, you can do just that. You don't need a webmaster, just a computer and your imagination. The webmaster might have to grant you permission to work on books, so if you want to give it a try and don't have access to the editor, contact the webmaster to get access.

Thanks and enjoy the website.
