Bulletin Board Dedication

July 13, 2007 - Members of the Cranberry Township Historical Society met today with township supervisers Chuck Caputy and Bruce Mazzoni on relatively short notice to dedicate the new schoolhouse bulletin board.

Weather reports for the day were not very promising, however the east bound wet weather passed through slightly south of Cranberry and sunny skies prevailed. Chuck Caputy was Master of Ceremonies for the day and delivered a short speech before calling for CTHS President Bev Magill to assist with the unveiling.

The cover was removed to reveal a nicely constructed bulletin board that was designed to mimick the construction details of the Sample Schoolhouse, complete with slate roof, white siding and burgundy trim.

The bulletin board was constructed for the Historical Society by the Public Works Department. The board will be used to inform the public of Historcial Society upcoming events, publications for sale, and events at the Gazebo as well.

The Historical Society would like to thank the township for their efforts in creating and installing the bulletin board.

Following the bulletin board dedication, Caputy announced that the Pittsburgh Banjo Club would be performing at noon today at the Gazebo. Todays' event is sponsored by Sherwood Oaks and marks the first in a series of summer concerts at the Gazebo (behind the schoolhouse).

The concerts are scheduled at lunchtime each Friday from today through August 17th. The music is free, but you'll need to bring your own lunch, blankets and chairs. The schoolhouse was open during the event and several concerteers were able to visit Sample today as well. Other events are scheduled at the Gazebo as follows:

  • 7/20 Greater Cranberry Barbershop Chorus
  • 7/27 Ambridge Steel Drum Band
  • 8/3 Nick Marzock
  • 8/10 Suzanne DeCree and Aaron Griffith
  • 8/17 Donna Bailey

Stop by Friday for one of the lunchtime concerts. For more information about the performers, check out the township's brochure.
