In the early morning of July 1, 1843, James Wigton left his wife and five children alone in his home near what is now Slippery Rock to go to his father’s house nearby to borrow a horse. He and some helpers were later planning to work his fields for the day. As he was gone for that short time, what occurred next on this early July day would destroy his life and rock the residents of Butler County as they witnessed one of its most historic and violent moments in the fledgling county’s history.
Existing board members: Helen Dewald (Vice President), Kathy Zagorac (Secretary) and Shirley Mahr (Treasurer) were unanimously re-elected at our December board meetng to serve on the 2012-2014 board. There were no write-in candidates, so the incumbents all ran unopposed and because of this situation, very few election ballots were actually returned. The officers for 2012 will be the same as last year; Roy Wagner as President, Helen Dewald as Vice President, Kathy Zagorac as Secretary and Shirley Mahr as Treasurer. Be sure to let us know if you would like to be added to a future ballot.
